Case Study

A new Mtcorr case study — taught hands-on.

See how microbial corrosion is identified, sampled and explained in the field. Every HydroSeal program pairs case studies like this with practical training, so the science lands where it matters: on real assets.

Glossary

Speak the language.

MIC
Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion — metal loss caused, accelerated or sustained by microbial activity.
Biofilm
The surface-attached microbial community, in a self-produced matrix, that is the engine of MIC.
SRB / APB
Sulfate-reducing and acid-producing bacteria — the principal microbial drivers of corrosion.
Cathodic protection
Suppressing corrosion by making the asset a cathode — via sacrificial anodes or impressed current (ICCP).
ICCP
Impressed-current cathodic protection — driven, controllable protection for large or buried assets.
ASME PCC-2 / ISO 24817
The international standards governing engineered composite repairs of pipes and pressure equipment.
Guided-wave UT
Long-range ultrasonic testing that maps wall loss along pipe runs with high accuracy.
SCC / HIC
Stress-corrosion cracking and hydrogen-induced cracking — environment-driven failure modes.
MMM
Molecular microbiological methods — DNA/RNA diagnostics such as qPCR that quantify the organisms that matter.
